NaNoWriMo 2024 (Week 2): The Trouble with Time Travel that cannot be avoided

I've decided that the novel will take inspiration more from "X-Men: Days of Future Past" than from "Back to the Future." This choice reflects my intention to examine the complexities of time travel and its consequences in a more serious and impactful manner. While "Back to the Future" presents a lighthearted and comedic perspective, I aim to explore the darker, more intricate themes associated with altering timelines and the moral dilemmas that arise from such actions.

I've already written several stories set in the Changing Fire Universe, which has allowed me to create a rich array of characters and settings. However, this time, I'm introducing elements that will truly surprise everyone. The stakes are elevated, the conflicts are more intense, and the emotional weight of the characters' decisions will resonate deeply with readers.

In this new narrative, the characters will confront the consequences of their choices in a world that is both unfamiliar and unforgiving. They won't be able to revert things to their previous state. The changes they instigate will send ripples through time, triggering a series of events that will challenge their beliefs, test their loyalties, and compel them to face the darker sides of their own natures.

As they navigate this altered reality, they will meet unexpected allies and formidable adversaries, each with their own motives and agendas. The relationships they once took for granted will be strained, and the bonds they believed were unbreakable will be tested in unforeseen ways.

NaNoWriMo 2024 (Week 1): When Your Novel Refuses to Cooperate

Right now, I'm really struggling to get this novel started. It feels like it's fighting me every step of the way, almost like it doesn't want to be written. Each time I sit down at my desk, I find myself staring at a blank page, the cursor blinking mockingly at me as if to say, "What are you waiting for?" The ideas that swirl in my mind seem to slip through my fingers like sand, elusive and frustratingly out of reach.

I try to outline my thoughts, to map out the characters and plot twists that I know are simmering beneath the surface, but every time I put pen to paper—or fingers to keyboard—nothing seems to flow. It’s as if the words are caught in a tangled web of self-doubt and fear, and I can’t quite find the right thread to pull. I question my abilities, wondering if I’m truly cut out for this endeavor. Am I just chasing a dream that’s too big for me?

But despite the struggle, I’m determined to push through, no matter what. I remind myself that every great novel begins with a single word, and that even the most celebrated authors faced their own battles with creativity. I know that perseverance is key, and I refuse to let this initial resistance defeat me. I’ve set small goals for myself—just a paragraph a day, or even a few sentences—to help break down the overwhelming task ahead.

I find solace in the thought that every writer has faced the daunting blank page, and that it’s a rite of passage in the creative process. I take a deep breath, close my eyes, and envision the world I want to create. I remind myself that this story is worth telling, that the characters are waiting for me to give them life, and that the journey of writing is just as important as the destination.

So, I’ll keep pushing forward, even when it feels like the novel is resisting me. I’ll embrace the struggle, knowing that it’s part of the process, and I’ll trust that eventually, the words will come. I’ll keep writing, keep dreaming, and keep believing in the story that’s waiting to be told.

NaNoWriMo 2024 Begins

I can hardly wrap my head around it, but I’m diving into this incredible story for NaNoWriMo! The setting is 2021, a time when the world is still reeling from the chaos of the past decade. The remnants of society are struggling to piece together their lives after the catastrophic alien invasion in 2012, which left cities in ruins and humanity grappling with the aftermath. 

In this tumultuous landscape, a group of determined survivors emerges, each carrying their own scars from the invasion. They are not just fighting for survival; they are driven by a desperate hope to change the course of history. Their audacious plan? To harness the power of magic—yes, magic!—to travel back to the year 2001. Their goal is nothing less than to prevent the tragic events of September 11th, a day that altered the trajectory of the world forever.

The story unfolds as these unlikely heroes navigate the complexities of time travel, grappling with the moral implications of their mission. Can they really change the past without creating even more chaos in the present? The stakes are incredibly high, and the tension is palpable as they face not only the challenges of their own abilities but also the potential consequences of their actions.

As they delve deeper into the world of magic, they encounter ancient spells, cryptic prophecies, and unexpected allies. Each character brings their own unique perspective and skills to the table, creating a dynamic and diverse team. I mean, seriously?! The concept is totally wild! I can hardly handle the whirlwind of ideas and emotions swirling around in my head. The blend of science fiction, fantasy, and historical drama is exhilarating, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. Will they succeed in their mission, or will they discover that some events are meant to unfold as they did? The possibilities are endless, and I’m ready to dive into this chaotic, thrilling adventure!

"You Need to Come Back Right Now! NaNoWriMo Has Started Again!"

 OK, so I've been gone for a while, but it's time to get back to this blog. (I admit that I've almost forgotten about it until now, but it's good to be back.)

Of course I'll tell you about my other stories while I'm at it. Just be patient, OK?

Anyway, the blog feels a bit dated and (save for a few posts here and there) I'm going to have to start all over again! But not to worry, as I can backdate a ton of the blog entries to fit what I've written so far so you won't get lost in this inane rambling. 

Plus, this blog should only be used during the month of November, so I have a ton of editing to do.

What's the Update on "The Imaginary Magical Worlds of Jacquel Chrissy May"?

Well, I'm glad you asked that question, because I have a lot to go over. So let's begin!

Part one was called "So You Think You Can Handle This", which contains the stories The Asperger's Files, The Original Teen Rebels and Sheila Baines, All in One Death, Temmy & Venus: Rebels or Rockers, "The Spirit Keeper" and the Bible, The Dead Children Magical Universe, The Main Seven Tragedy, Why Imaginary Friends are Evil and The Doctor Mighty Theory. Those particularly heart-wrenching stories center mainly on child deaths and disabilities, as well as popular fan theories about stories I have written years ago, including some stuff that I had planned years ago and totally forgotten about.

Part two was called "Nostalgia Is Hazardous To Your Health", and it included the follow stories The MovieWatching Trio vs. Disney movies, A Historical Secret, The MTM Connection, The Truth about Logan Dara, Dicky Michaelson, and Andrea Marshall, The "Time-Blood Trilogy" and "Do You Remember" Connection, Harry Potter is a Lie, Did the Harry Potter movies cause the cancellation of "Away in England", Was Oriana Anastasia, and The Beldensville Theory. These stories serve as a reminder that nostalgia may be good in very short doses, it won't do you any good in the long run. The best way to deal with nostalgia is to let it go and stay in the present.

Well, I managed to complete two parts of the story, with the third part (And One More Thing) not being written yet. Of course, there's NaNoEdMo, in which you spend 50 hours editing a story. I hope to have this story ready soon.

When Will You Write "Harry Moffer & the World's Stupidest Fanfiction"?

Actually, I'm glad you asked that question, because it brings up something I'm going to inevitably deal with in the near future.

And that is called fanfiction. Legal fanfiction, so to speak.

With the release of the script (not book) of the play Harry Potter & the Cursed Child, many people were up in arms, as they finally saw the Harry Potter series for what it truly was: a huge mess. It was like someone took the worst parts of the series, slapped them together, and called it a book. And to make things worse, the public accepted it without much question.

Which is why I have a plan to call that out in the book "Harry Moffer & the World's Stupidest Fanfiction" (which won't be written by me, of course!).

I'll let you all know what the play...i mean story...is about as soon as I get the fifth Harry Moffer book ready for publication. And with that, i must say that Harry Moffer is not to be treated as something trivial, even if it is a satire of the Harry Potter books.

So, What's Next for Camp NaNoWriMo?

In 2013, I began a satire known as Harry Moffer & the Dumbest Story Ever. In that particular story, Harry Moffer (a 14-year-old loser) is suddenly yanked away from his comfortable but boring home in Branford, Coggnetigut and taken to another town called Wyvernwing, Pencilvarnia. There, he is sent to Warthogpox High School.

In Warthogpox, many people believe he is the real-life incarnation of the boy wizard Larry Dobber, the hero of the Larry Dobber series. Harry doesn't think he is the hero, not when he hasn't done anything significant. He manages to befriend Pun Teasley and Hildegarde Lamer, two other losers who are just as discontent with their lives as he is. The Grim Trio sets off to break Larry Dobber's stranglehold on America, which also exposes the books as a well-written fraud. How the story progresses is anyone's guess.

Harry's story continues with "Harry Moffer & the Really Stupid Sequel", when the entire population of Warthogpox High ends up singing songs inspired by High School Musical, "Harry Moffer & the Class That Couldn't Keep Itself Together", in which secrets about Harry's past are brought to light, and "Harry Moffer Really Needs to Give Up & Go Home", in which Harry, now a high school sophomore, deals with everything happening in the Larry Dobber books.

Now, I should be on the fifth book, "Harry Moffer & the Unhappy Fandom", in which the Larry Dobber fandom is angry with him for not only calling their favorite book series a colossal waste of time, but Harry himself is a junior who must find out what happened to his parents or die trying.

Well, what's happening with the series? I'm going to get everything ready so the fifth book can be written in April. We still need Harry Moffer.

Hey, where's the story?

I know you're asking if I'm ever going to finish the story "And You Thought Your Family was Weird", but remember that these things take a lot of time to happen, and I simply don't have all the time in the world to devote to one story. There are many other things I have to do, and I can't sit in front of a computer all day long.

I hope you understand.

Anyway, I know that you're wanting an update on the story, and I will say that Kristin is starting to get on my nerves. She refuses to play her role, and she's ruining the story with her awful behavior. But fear not, dear readers, as she will be humbled, one way or another. You can trust me on that.

Well, that's all for now and I hope that you all know that I will have the story completed sometime in October.

Where have I been?

In case you were wondering where I've been all last week, I had gotten sick, so I couldn't work on the story. So I was pretty bummed about that.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting back into the game and hopefully making some progress with the story that needs to be made. It's not going to happen overnight, but I know for sure that whatever happens, I'll be ready for it.

Plus, I should be halfway through the first draft, and I would have gotten there if I didn't get sick, so there you have it.

But I'm not crying over the lost time; instead, I'm upset that I had wasted so much time being sick that I haven't had the chance to catch up with my blog and now it's getting further away from me. I hate playing catch up.

Well, that's all I have for now, and wait for more blog posts regarding the novel I'm working on this month and the months past. I'll be back with more!

Happy 1-year Anniversary to this Blog!

I can't believe it has been one year since I started this blog. During that year, I have rediscovered my love of writing as well as me discovering how best to approach my lack of motivation to keep writing. Thanks to this blog, I have been able to complete Camp NaNoWriMo, JuNoWriMo, and NaNoWriMo in record time.

And I have you all to thank for this successful year and I hope for many more years with this blog.

As for NaNoFiMo, I'll get to it tomorrow.

I Guess I Forgot About NaNoFiMo

Well, this is...weird.

Apparently, I had signed up for this site called NaNoFiMo, which is short for National Novel Finishing Month.

As in, you have one month to finish writing your novel.

Well, had I known about it back then, it would have saved me so many hours, weeks, and even years of complete embarrassment, providing that I should have used the site when I had the chance.

Now I am.

This year, I hope to wrap up the story "And You Thought Your Family Was Weird" after my embarrassing flop last year. I bet you've all seen the blog post where I was angry with myself for failing to properly write the story, so don't ask. This time, however, I’m going to pick up where I left off and hopefully, save the novel.

The revamped novel now stands at 16,276 words, so I’m kind of ahead of schedule. Hopefully, I can get to 20,000 words before Monday.

In case I forget, I’m going on the site to get ready to finish the novel, so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to comment on this blog. I will get back to you shortly.

The Post NaNoWriMo Blues

I call this post "The Post NaNoWriMo Blues", because it's been a day since NaNoWriMo ended. I'm now wondering what happens next, since the blog was mainly used for keeping track of my NaNoWriMo novel during the month of November. What do I do now?

Well, I already know that have a ton of blog posts to make up and I'm not sure if I can do them all in a month. Also, I have seven books to finish writing, edit, and eventually publish. So I have one day to rest and then it's back to work.

Day 30 of NaNoWriMo 2016

OK, so I have one more word to write today and that word is...

"comment."

That's right. I have successfully made it to the end of the month, with just one word to write, making my word count 50,000 words!

Since I'm here, I want to thank the person who came up with the idea of reverse NaNoWriMo, as I couldn't have done it without them. It's the penultimate day of NaNoWriMo, and I have 116 words left to write. I wonder how did that happen, seeing as I haven't exactly been up to par with my writing. But I'm at the end of the second part of my story and with that, I can't really start with part 3 until NaNoEdMo, when I'm free to edit this story and explain what that story's about.

It's Cyber Monday today and I confess that I've gone on a shopping spree on Amazon, buying as many books as I could, for free. As usual, I did my writing in the morning so I would have more time to shop online. Not to be a Boasting Betsy, but my word count is shorter than most people's. But I won't hold anything against you if you don't have 50,000 words written.

Day 27 of NaNoWriMo 2016

It's the last Sunday of November (and NaNoWriMo) and while most people are panicking with trying to squeeze their way to 50,000 words, I feel at peace knowing that the fewer words I write, the more my word count rises. I don't have to feel any pressure at all, save for when I have to write for at least 30 minutes.

Day 26 of NaNoWriMo 2016

Thanksgiving weekend is here and NaNoWriMo is now winding down, but that doesn't mean you can stop writing. By now, you should have made some serious progress on your novel, as I have. (Plus, writing 461 words is nothing to sneeze at.) But I do realize that I am not done with my book yet.

In fact, I have Part 3 to write as well as the glossary and other things.

Well, safe to say, I'm almost there! Just a few more words and I will have reached 50,000! (This is the first time I've reached 50,000 without using any cheats, so I'm proud of myself in that regard.)

Day 25 of NaNoWriMo 2016

Now that Thanksgiving has come and passed and the holiday shopping season is starting, I realize it's important that I don't get caught up in the holiday madness if it can be helped. Which means (with great difficulty) that I have no choice but to ignore Black Friday and focus solely on NaNoWriMo.

And it shouldn't be too hard to do that because I only have 576 words to write today. (See how quickly time flies when you have done the most hard work at the beginning of the month? It gets easier every day. I think I might do that with all my stories and see how far I get.)

Anyway, I really need to get back to writing, as these words aren't going to write themselves. I'll be back tomorrow!

Day 24 of NaNoWriMo 2016

It's Thanksgiving Day, and I'm feeling the pressure. Its moments like this when I'm glad I used Reverse NaNoWriMo because if I didn't, I would NEVER get to where I'm supposed to be!

Anyway, I have written 690 words and with that, I'm off to watch movies and eat dinner. Yet I really wish I could end my story with these words: "And so, in the year 2020, America was turned into a benevolent constitutional monarchy with Gregg Porter as its king and Joseph Houston as the prime minister. Donald Trump died of a heart attack, but no one cared. Gobble gobble!"
